English Oral Examination
Topic: Graffiti Art
Mode of presentation:
1. Students prepare their Graffiti art poster in groups and show it to the class. Then each student in the groups must share something about it for 3 – 5 minutes. The criteria for grading are based on; VOCABULARY, CONTENT / CONVERSATIONAL APPROPRIACY / CREATIVITY, GRAMMAR / STRUCTURE, PRONUNCIATION/FLUENCY.
2. Students have to face the whole class while doing their presentations.
3. Students are allowed to use palm cards during the oral presentation. If they read from any notes, their instructor will automatically take off at least 10 points from the overall oral presentation grade. No notes other than the handout/outline are permitted
Guiding questions:
1. What is Graffiti art? Is it vandalism?
2. What kind of people do this and why?
3. What's your opinion of graffiti in general? Does it have artistic merit (or worth)or is it a nuisance?
4. What's the funniest graffiti you've ever seen?
5. Explain in your own words the idea, techniques, spray, color, and the materials used for creating your poster.
6. Was it easier to do the work in groups or on your own? Why?
7. Is there any Graffiti in your home town or city?
8. What have you gained from this oral assignment preparation? Have you learned something out of it?

0 - 14: Little information conveyed, disconnected or disorganized ideas, and/or fails to engage with partner(s)
15-16: Lacks logical sequencing; little substance; says less than required
17-19: Topic covered but minimally; and/or limited connection of ideas; and/or lacks social conventions
20-22: Topic covered; limited development of ideas; most information relevant to topic, at least some social conventions included; creative
23-25: Informative; original & well-developed ideas; demonstrates creativity; and/or detailed coverage of topic
C-GRAMMAR / STRUCTURE (25%)
0 - 14: Generally inaccurate, with exception of set phrases; largely incomprehensible
15-16: Meaning frequently unclear due to frequent errors; extremely limited range of grammatical structures
17-19: Mistakes sometimes affect meaning, though adequate; and/or limited range of grammatical structures
20-22: Meaning generally clear despite mistakes; good range of structures
23-25: Wide range of structures, mostly accurate
D- PRONUNCIATION/FLUENCY (25%)
0 - 9: Halting, fragmented, unnatural pauses make it difficult to follow, pronunciation frequently unintelligible
10-12: Listener must make a concerted effort to understand; halting speech, lack of sufficient preparation
13-16: Discourse flows; mispronunciations are comprehensible, shows preparation
17-19: Clearly making an effort to pronounce accurately; occasional mispronunciations; few unnatural pauses
20-25: Language flows well, no unnatural pauses; few mispronunciation.
