Lesson summary (25/08/.2009)
Objective: Students learn to evaluate and synthesize reading comprehension and critical thinking and key word questions and do matching work.
Assessment: Students were asked to answer reading and key word questions and after that they did matching work and finished their movie review posters.

Lesson Summary (25/08/2009)
Objective: Students learn to create their own drama about a bank and store robbery. The drama was video taped and the best group will receive a prize.. The objective of the lesson is to allow them to express themselves using proper English words. The final outcome of the program will be shown in our blog and face book.
Assessment: Students prepare the story and dialog and play their part in a group for the final resolution of the drama . The narrator explains the story.
Grade 10
Objective: Students were informed about the IGCSE marking scheme continued with an assignment about writing a formal letter to an editor of a local newspaper.
Assessment: Students were asked to make a letter to the editor of a newspaper disapproving the government's decision to break down a community service building in order to build a parking lot. Students need to give their suggestions and opinions and way out of the problem. The letter must be 150 words long (Extended).

Lesson summary for August 21,2009.
Grade 8A: (3 periods)
Objective: Students learn to mimic and act out a play about a bank robbery. The idea is to allow them to express themselves using proper English words and to prepare for Tuesday's video shooting program for their play. This program will be shown in our blog and face book later on.
Assessment: Students prepare the story and dialogue in a group for the final resolution of the play and began to speak out each part with the narrator telling the story.
Grade 9A
Objective: Listening - movie review; Prince Caspian. The idea is that students will be able to answer critical thinking questions and do discussions and oral presentations after they have finished watching the movie.
Assessment: Watching a movie and preparing to answer critical thinking questions.
Grade 10
Objective: Students were lectured about the different types of Narrative, Creative and descriptive writing. Discussion about the three types was done when students started asking questions about the concepts of each types of writing.
Assessment: Students were given free writing topics to write Narrative, creative and descriptive types of writing. Each piece must not be more than 100 words (Core).

Lesson Summary for August 19, 2009.
Objective: Students learn to prepare summary and answer literary questions about the movie 'Prince Caspian (Narnia)' which they had seen last week continued with preparing a poster in the first period. In the second period , they were doing reading and vocabulary writing practice from their text books.
Assessment: Students were answering literary feature questions and doing reading writing and vocab practice from their text books.

Objective: Students learn new vocabs and had time to discuss the movie review questions (Prince Caspian-Narnia).
Assessment: Writing movie review questions doing discussions with the teacher and after that continue with the Movie.

Lesson Summary for the Aug 18th,2009.
Objective: Students learn to practice their spoken English through debating and story telling.
Assessment: 1.Debating activity.
2. Reading & Writing a story for a drama.
Grade : 9B
Objective: Students discuss together meaning of difficult words and teacher explains about some of the critical thinking questions and how they are related to doctrinal knowledge that the students have learned in their lives.
Assessment: Students discuss and answer movie review questions and learn new vocabulary by checking them from the teacher and the dictionary.
Grade: 10
Objective: Students learn the meaning of idioms. e.g:Idioms are words, phrases, or expressions that are unusual either grammatically, as in "Long time, no see!" or there is a meaning that cannot be derived from the conjoined meanings of its elements, as in "It's raining cats and dogs!" Every language has idioms, and they are challenging for students to learn.
LITERAL MEANING:
Before the bartender made the drink, he broke the ice with a spoon and dropped in into the glass.
IDIOMATIC MEANING:
Before the conference began, the speaker broke the ice with a joke.

Lesson Summary (14/08/2009- Grade 9A)
Objective: Students enhance their listening knowledge by watching a movie :'Narnia-Prince Caspian'. After that they will be discussing and answering critical thinking and literary feature questions.
Assessment: Watching a movie and do some discussion about the chapters/scenes.

Assessment:
CRITICAL THINKING QUESTIONS –Prince Caspian Movie.
1. After watching the movie ‘Prince Caspian’, do you find an allegory in the movie that is related to some of our beliefs? Which one? How is it related?
2. Is the story a reasoned argument in defense of a theory or doctrine that we know?
3. During the absence of the kings and queens of the first Narnia movie, who reigned over the kingdom? What kind of a king is he? What is the relationship between Prince Caspian and Lord Miraz? How long is one year compared to the years in Narnia?
4. Why does Prince caspian’s uncle want to murder him?
5. C.S. Lewis didn’t think of his Narnia books as being an allegory, strictly speaking. Instead, he though of them as exploring the nature of Christianity and God’s relationship with man in a parallel universe:
"I did not say to myself ‘Let us represent Jesus as He really is in our world by a Lion in Narnia’; I said, ‘Let us suppose that there were a land like Narnia and that the Son of God, as he became a Man in our world, became a Lion there, and then imagine what would happen.'"(Explain the meaning of the above underlined paragraph in your own words).

Objective: (Continued activity)Students were preparing poem questions for debating activities.
Assessment: (Group 3 & 4) Students were asked to generate poem questions in groups of 4 (four) and then they read the questions in class to be debated by the other groups. This lesson was very interactive and lively and students had a lot of fun.
Objective: Students learn to answer difficult reading questions.

Objective: Students were preparing poem questions for debating activities.

Lesson Summary for grade 9A/B & grade 10 (07/08/09)
Objective:1. Reading and answering questions about a leaflet and vocabulary check.
2. More difficult reading comprehension practice.
Assessment: Students were doing reading and writing from their ICCSE textbooks and after that
they were given worksheets from The English composition book for class practice.
Grade 10.
Objective: Students practice more difficult reading comprehension from their High school English composition w sheets and discuss the meaning of words and phrases and matching work from their IGCSE books.
Assessment: Reading, writing and vocabulary practice.

Objective: Students practice speaking and writing in English by doing their role plays about : The Interview.
Assessment: Students prepare role plays about a television interview between a reporter and
a government official and the topic of the interview is about an epidemic.

Lesson summary (4/08/2009)
Objective: students learn to practice speaking and writing.
Assessment:Students continued with their speaking practice and performed a string story telling. All the students were asked to participate. After that the students were asked to create dialogue questions for an epidemic/pandemic, topic (s); Swine flu, Birdf flu, others.
Grade-10
Objective: Students learn about critical thinking questions in reading and language study.
Assessment: Critical thinking multiple choice , vocabulary and reading paragraphs on extended reasoning topics.
Grade 9B

OBJECTIVE: On that day, students were able to strengthen their vocabulary skills from page 55 Unit 12 of their work books. Besides this students did an IGCSE listening practice from page 63 Unit-14 (Topic: A conservationist being interviewed about the world's smallest Lizard). Besides this students were able to enhance their speaking skills by doing some exercises from the TOEFL book.
ASSESSMENT:
1.Reading and understanding new vocabulary through discussions and review from the dictionary
